Complete gasket set for the vano unit of the BMW S62 engine
If a vanos unit is installed in your vehicle, the following error pattern may occur after some time:
- Loss of torque and power
- getting stuck and abruptly tearing the engine loose at a speed of 2,000 - 3,000
- an uneven power curve and speed fluctuations
- rough idling
- bad starting performance
- increased fuel consumption
This has to do with the vanos unit already mentioned, which can no longer fulfil its function due to O-rings that no longer seal properly.
This very common problem is due to the inferior material from which both the O-rings and the flat gaskets above are made. These materials are completely unsuitable for use in the engine.
Here you have the possibility to replace exactly these sealing rings with very high quality and specially manufactured sealing rings and thus save a lot of money compared to replacing the complete vanos unit. The 40 Viton O-rings and the 8 Teflon sealing rings are like all the articles offered here from a German brand manufacturer. We have this sealing set (especially the Teflon sealing rings) produced in small series especially for this purpose, which is why the price is so high. With one gasket set you can repair two Vanos units in one S62 engine.
Attention: Due to the groove of the solenoid valves on S50B30, S50B32 and S62 motors, which is not optimally calculated by the manufacturer according to our experience, leaks may occur despite the matching O-ring. Despite a relatively strong compression in the installation space and the use of harder O-rings, there is an increased risk of extrusion. We therefore recommend using the reinforced sealing rings for solenoid valves. The installation of the O-rings for solenoid valves is therefore at your own risk and should only be considered as a cheap and temporary emergency solution.
Suitable for the following vehicles:
- BMW E39 M5 (from year 2000)
- BMW Z8 E52
